Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, 87 years ago, June never lost her love of that area or of her Swedish heritage. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis in 1947 and went to work at the University of Minnesota. Bob was a student there at the time, passing by her work area to speak a few words, and eventually coming by her parents house to call on her. They married in 1950, moving to Schenectady, New York, where Bob worked for General Electric. Five years later they were transferred to the Hotpoint division in Chicago, IIlinois, where their three children were born. June had extensive gorgeous gardens while she lived here, even building a brick fireplace by herself in one corner garden where the family enjoyed cook outs. After 11 years they were transferred again, this time to Bloomington, Indiana. It was here where June spent some of her happiest years watching her kids swimming meets, attending classes in ceramics, sewing, and water exercise, and participating with her church in choir as an alto and as a kitchen lady putting on the church basement potlucks. Bob and June always wanted in the worst way to return to live in their beloved Minnesota, but the last career transfer they made brought then farther south instead, to Louisville, Kentucky. As their children grew and moved out, Bob and June enjoyed spending time in Naples, Florida, and Barren River Lake with their travel trailer. With the coming of grandkids, June thoroughly enjoyed attending their school and sporting activities. And in her twilight years, she loved Derby Dinner Theater, Friday night concerts at Warder Park, and of course her church activities and friends, all with her best friend Bill Beltle. Many thanks to all who helped her remain at home during her final year of life, bringing her mail and paper to her door, picking up odd items at the grocery that she might request, giving her transportation to her church and doctor, mailing the many cards for her card ministry, and many other things. She mentioned in her last week of life that the past year was one of the happiest of her life.
A funeral service to celebrate June’s life will be conducted at 7pm on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 4pm Thursday until funeral time at 7pm. Entombment will take place at Resthaven Memorial Park.
