Born on July 21, 1964, in Merced, California, to Robert and Wilma Glass, Kim was preceded in death by her father, Robert Glass; her brother, Greg Glass; her sister-in-law, Heather Jones Glass; and her grandparents, Gus and Margie Glass and Arvil and Freda Green.
She is survived by her mother, Wilma Glass; her daughter, Brittany Burkhead (Michael); and her cherished grandchildren, Hillary Ann and Michael Robert Burkhead. She also leaves behind many beloved family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Kim graduated from Marion C. Moore High School in 1982, where she proudly participated in the color guard and marching band. She was a member of Okolona Presbyterian Church. She was a die hard University of Louisville Cardinals fan. Kim loved to attend U of L football and basketball games, especially with her brother Greg.
Throughout her life, Kim held many jobs—from Fifth Quarter Steak House to CPI Photo Finish to Speedway—but her most meaningful work was as a CNA on the Mother-Baby floor at Baptist Hospital East. With her nurturing heart, she found joy and purpose in caring for others.
Kim loved to bowl and treasured her time spent in the bowling league with close friends. She also loved playing volleyball for the Okolona Presbyterian Church team. Creative and talented, she had a special gift for floral arranging and crafting beautiful wreaths that brought joy to those who received them.
Kim looked forward each year to her annual trips to Panama City Beach with her daughter and friends. She especially loved leaving in the middle of the night so they could arrive at the Alabama Welcome Center just in time to watch the sunrise behind the Apollo rockets. Once at the beach, Kim enjoyed sitting on the shore, swimming in the ocean, visiting Gulf World, and exploring the local shops.
One of Kim’s greatest joys was being a proud “band and guard mom.” She loved supporting the Louisville Male High School Marching Band and Color Guard and could always be found cheering for her daughter, Brittany—whether in the stadium, the gym, or on stage. She rarely missed a practice or performance, and her unwavering support touched everyone around her.
Kim’s greatest happiness came from being Grandma to Hillary and Michael. They were the light of her life. She treasured every birthday party, dance recital, and t-ball game, and she never missed a chance to share how proud she was of them. She wanted nothing more than to love them and spoil them rotten.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218. A funeral service celebrating Kim’s life will immediately follow.
