Born on June 28, 1949, to Joseph W. Sr. and Laura Bishop. Her love story with Michael Walsh Sr., began in the heart of Louisville, where they built a life rich in joy and shared endeavors until his earlier passing. Also preceding her in death is her brother Frank Allen Bishop.
Her wisdom and care live on through her children, Timothy Bishop and Michael Walsh Jr., and through the joyous clamor of her grandchildren, Jackson, Savannah, Brayden, and Joshua, and three great-grandchildren.
Laura leaves behind a legacy rich in culinary delights and nurturing love. Her siblings, Joseph W. Bishop Jr. (Karen), Donna M. Trowell, Fred D. Bishop (Janet), Mary E. Bishop Payne (Mike), Shirley A. Bishop Hunt, Warren W. Bishop, Janet A. Bishop, and Nancy C. Bishop, fondly remember Laura's unwavering support and deep-rooted family values.
She graduated from Westport High School in 1967, before pursuing her passion for culinary arts at JCTC. Her dedication to her craft shone through during her 13 years as a sous chef at Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, from whence she retired to embrace the role of caregiver—another testament to her generosity.
Laura's life was a tapestry of simple pleasures; she found joy in her garden, the taste of a well-crafted meal, and the scenes of her favorite TV shows. She delighted in exploring new places and cherished the moments spent with her lifelong best friend, Diane Furguson. Laura's open heart and home became the backdrop for countless memories for her host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The legacy Laura Bishop Walsh leaves is one of love, laughter, and the warm embrace of a life beautifully lived. She will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held for Laura on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Harrods Creek Baptist Church, 7610 River Road, Prospect, Kentucky 40059.
