Butch was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 63 years, Betty Popham Snyder and his son, Timothy Alan Snyder.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Snyder Alderson (Art) of Bentonville, AR; his sons, Dennis Lee Snyder (Debra), Lee Ray Snyder Jr. (Beverly) and daughter in-law, Cindy Snyder of Fredrecksburg, VA. Butch was blessed with 9 grandchildren, Bryan (Lisa), Lorne (Shelley), Kimberly Rolen (Wayne), Jennifer Guffey (Ricky), Eric, David Alderson (Amiee) of Hong Kong, Tom Alderson (Sarah) of Bentonville, AR, Maggie Snyder of Virginia Beach, VA, Zach Kolan of Fredrecksburg, VA; and 12 great grandchildren. Butch was very proud of his family!
At age 18 Butch joined the Army as a Paratrooper and finished his military career in occupied Japan. Upon release, he went to work for Chevron as a Driver and had 37 years of service and at retirement was inducted into the PTCA Hall of Fame for compiling 1 million miles of accident free driving. Butch and family were members of Our Lady’s Church for many years and he enjoyed his tenure with his many friends in the “Men’s Club” while working the Bingo’s Fish Fry’s and Festivals throughout the years!
In his retirement years he excelled at oil paintings of flowers and landscapes, which he shared with family and friends. Butch also loved sharing jokes, playing cards and shooting pool. He was very good at all of the above. We will miss your humor and trick shots!
Our grateful thanks go out to the wonderful staff at Magnolia Springs Assisted Living, Whipps Mill Road, where Butch resided for 3 years and the great and talented people at Westport Place Health Campus! Thanks to all who looked after our Dad!
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hosparus, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Dr., Louisville, KY 40205.
