Lillian was born in Combs, Kentucky where she attended grade school and high school. After high school she moved to Louisville where she attended beauty school and owned her own business as a hairstylist. She met her husband, Don, the love of her life, in Louisville. Don’s job at Dupont transferred them to LaPlace, Louisiana where they lived for 36 years, before moving back to Louisville in 2016.
Lillian was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in LaPlace and a life-long Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart. She dedicated her life to volunteer work and supporting numerous Christian and Children’s charities. Lillian loved her family and friends deeply and especially enjoyed traveling with Don and their many friends over the years. She adored fashion and dressing stylishly, often sporting her favorite red suede boots. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends who fondly remember her for her thoughtfulness, as she never missed an opportunity to send someone a card to thank them for a kind deed or to wish them well.
Lillian was survived by her husband Donald Orville Walker, a sister, Maurine Nickell Critoph, and 18 nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleda Mae Campbell Nickell and Vincent Chandis Nickell, a brother, Vincent Chandis Nickell, and a sister Nancy Nickell Wiles.
