

Linda Lou Palin passed away on January 03, 2026, at the age of 79. She was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana on September 7th, 1946, to William Lewis and Mildred (Short) Cooksey. Linda married Laurel Dale Palin, and together they had two sons, Jerry and Barlow. Dale and Linda met while he was in the Navy. She was waitressing at a café when Dale walked in, and the rest is history. Linda had two very special pets, Lucy and Sidney, that were like grandchildren to her. They would always sleep in bed with her. They even had stepping stools on the side of the bed. Linda enjoyed taking Lucy on walks to Iroquois Park, which they did often.
Linda was known for being a sweet person, helpful, caring, and an amazing cook. She made the best dinners and desserts. Linda also loved to garden and kept her lawn perfectly manicured. She loved to be outdoors and spending mornings on her porch with her coffee. Linda was a very crafty woman. She hand painted rocks with encouraging messages and would put them in special places for people to find. She would also give them as gifts to family members and friends. Linda was a woman of many talents. In her life she worked many different jobs. She devoted her life to her sons as a stay-at-home mom and then worked as a retail and a tobacco sales representative.
Family members who passed before Linda include her parents, William Lewis Cooksey and Mildred (Short) Cooksey; Her husband of 35 years, Laurel Dale Palin; two brothers, Robert Cooksey, Roger Cooksey; her companion of many years, Ray Peacock; and many more beloved family members.
Left to cherish her memory include her sons; Jerry Palin (Lovie), and Barlow Palin (Gena); her grandsons Tanner Palin (Ellie) and Seth Palin; her sister Barbara “Jean” Howey; her nephew Charles “Chuck” Cooksey who was her best buddy, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home, located at 4623 Preston Highway, Louisville, KY, 40213, on January 11, 2026, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The celebration of life will follow at the same venue from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm on January 11, 2026.
