

Born into a large, loving Catholic family in Raywick, Kentucky, Margaret was the daughter of Len and Apollonia Cecil and was the second youngest of twelve children. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 55 years, Frank; her only grandson, Carter; and all of her brothers and sisters: Joe Cecil, Anita Matheis, Frances Elder, Andrew Cecil, Gervais Cecil, Leonard Cecil, Martha Blandford, Ruth Mattingly, JoAnn Mattingly, Hazel Mae Mattingly and Barbara “Bobbie” Drury.
Margaret is survived by her four devoted children and their spouses: Ronnie Blandford (Debbie), Donna Abney (Neil), Lisa Brooks (Tim), and Damian Blandford (Lisa); six grand-daughters: Trisha, Ashley, Elizabeth, Morgan, Emma, and Megan; as well as, five great-children: Lillian, Hayden, Maisie, Cole and Jasper.
Margaret attended St. Francis Xavier grade school and St. Charles High School in Marion County. Shortly after graduation, Margaret moved to Louisville. She met, at the Cecil Hotel, and later married the love of her life, Francis “Frank” Blandford. To help support her family and up until retirement Margaret worked at General Electric and sold Avon cosmetics. Margaret was a devout member and volunteer of St. Bernard Catholic Church.
Margaret enjoyed “wasting time” with her family and friends, was an avid Euchre player, loved playing rummy and solitaire, doing word puzzles, saying her rosary, going to the family farm, and she made the best fried chicken and fried corn anyone has ever had.
A visitation will be held Sunday, June 27, 2021, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville KY, 40218 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial in Margaret’s honor will begin at 11:00 am Monday, June 28, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 7500 Tangelo Drive, Louisville KY 40228. Margaret will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park.
