Margaret Ellen McCarty

was the only daughter of Billie Brown Thrasher and Anna Elizabeth Broyles both who resided in Louisville, Kentucky.

She was a Member in Christ of The Christian Assembly for 35 years. Margaret was baptized in water at the St. Louis Convention in 1976, and in the holy spirit in Louisville in 1978.

Margaret was employed at IMCO and the Jefferson County Board of Education at Western High School.

She was married for 56 years to Roy McCarty Jr. until his death in January, 2004. They met while Roy was playing music when Margaret was fifteen. On November 29, 1948, Margaret boarded a train in Louisville for Owensboro, Kentucky where she and Roy married at the courthouse.

Their love endured as Margaret acted as his primary caregiver throughout his life. Her ability to provide a nurturing and caring environment set a wonderful example for her daughters. Her grandchildren and great-grand children were her greatest joys.

Mrs. McCarty is survived by daughters: Georgetta McCarty (Allen Edison), Roycia Buckley (Charles), Mary Calhoun , and Ruby Selvage ( John); grandchildren: Jennifer, Rachel (Rob), Mark , Aaron (Amanda), Ashley (Patrick), Nathan (Elizabeth), McKenzie, Jonathan, Katie, Amanda, and Madeline; great-grandchildren: Mya Elena, Jayden , and Ethan, Zachary & Malcolm; brothers: Robert Thrasher Sr. & Benjamin Thrasher.

Preceded in death by her parents and brothers William Thrasher & Joseph Milliner.

Her service will be Tuesday, January 19, Noon at the Christian Assembly Church on 9020 Stone Street Rd, with Reverend Jack Ross officiating and interment following in the Beth Haven Cemetery.

Visitation with be Monday, January 18, 2016 from 2 PM - 8 PM at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, and Tuesday from 10am until the time of service at the church.
