Born on December 27, 1958, in Louisville to Arter Jay and Annie Jewell Hunt, Marsha lived a life full of passion, faith, and deep devotion to those she loved.
The daughter of a Missionary Baptist preacher, Marsha carried her faith with her every day of her life. She was saved at age 12, and her belief in God shaped her values, compassion, and the way she cared for everyone who crossed her path. From the time of her salvation, she became a lifelong member of the Missionary Baptist faith.
Marsha married Boyd Glenn Crowder and together they shared 49 years of marriage with a bond built on love, humor, faith, and resilience. She was the proud mother of three children, Sara (Josh) Yates, Emily Perkins, and Aaron (Kati) Crowder, and daughter of the heart Debra Anderson, who she loved as her own. Her greatest joy in recent years came from her role as Nene to her cherished grandchildren: Zachary (Madison) Yates, Hannah Perkins (Reagan Noel), Seth Yates, Kittie Sue Perkins, and Jacob Perkins. She was the beloved sister to Debria Hampton and Duane (Stacey) Hunt, and sister in love to Dewayne (Sandra) Crowder and the late Becki Lawhorn. She leaves behind a host of cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.
Marsha had a vibrant spirit and a magnetic personality. She had a passion for shopping, especially if it involved finding just the right gift for someone she loved. She lit up every Christmas and turned it into a season of magic and warmth.
She had a sharp mind and a gift for storytelling, able to recall details, people, and moments with remarkable clarity. Whether she was sharing family history or making someone laugh, Marsha had a way of drawing people in.
Though she spent most of her life in Louisville, Marsha also made a home in Frankfort, KY for 27 years. Wherever she lived, she left a legacy of warmth, generosity, and community. Her kindness, sense of humor, and fierce love will be remembered always.
Marsha’s life was not without challenges, including a brave fight with chronic illness and cancer, but she faced every hardship with dignity, faith, and determination. Her strength remains an inspiration to those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents and other beloved family members who welcomed her home.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
Marsha Lynne Crowder’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
