Martha “Pat” was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and raised in Louisville. She was preceded in death by her parents; Walter and Marcella Thomson and her daughter Melissa (stillborn).
She is survived by her husband John “Jack” Nevin; her brother Walter M. Thomson (Lois Ann); nephews Chris Thomson (Jordan), Keith Thomson, Grand Nephew Asher; Grand Niece Ainsley and numerous cousins.
Martha was a graduate of Louisville Male and Girls High School, Morehead State College and Spalding College. She was a talented musician who, after graduating from Morehead, served as a band director at Lawrenceburg High School and general music teacher. She returned to Jefferson County and served as a band director at Wagner High School and then taught general music at Frost Middle School and Bruce Middle School. After leaving the public school system she satisfied her love of teaching by serving as a docent at the Louisville Zoo.
She met Jack on a blind date and wed after six months; they traveled, golfed, laughed, cried and enjoyed each other’s company for 48 years.
The family extends a tremendous debt of gratitude to the staff of Franciscan Health Care for their tireless efforts on Martha’s behalf.
There will be a private celebration of Pat’s life.
In lieu of flowers Martha request donations to Kosair Charities.
