He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jackson and Nancy Louise Ford, and brother Robert Lee Ford.
He graduated high school in 1962 from the first graduating class of Fairdale. He was very athletic, participating in multiple high school sports, including basketball. This built a love for his life-long support of the Louisville Cardinals.
Marvin was a storyteller and loved to make his grandchildren laugh. Favorites include first time running a mile, playing high school football and buying his new Dodge Charger off the show case, only to have it in a crash a few weeks later. He was also an avid card player and loved games of chance.
He worked 35 years of service at General Electric and even though he worked many long days, he always had time for a game of basketball or horseshoes in the backyard. He loved being outdoors, even if it was just doing yardwork with Tracy or Trevin, his niece and great nephew, who live right next door.
There is definitely a special place reserved in Heaven for Marvin for his gracious heart. He was very generous to his family, the homeless, the poor and strangers he didn’t even know but thought may need help.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Connie Ford, his children, Bobby Ford, Bonnie Linde (Kevin) and Eddie Ford, his grandchildren, Chelsy Ford (Kevin Jones), Patrick Ford, Julie Ford (Josh Mason), Orry Linde (Emily Bruce) and Colby Linde, his great grandchildren, Jasper and Jenna Mason, his sisters, Brenda Grimes and Theresa Logsdon (Thomas McGuire), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be conducted at 12 pm on June 22, 2024, at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Final resting place is Evergreen Cemetery.
