

Mary Elizabeth "Betty" (Jacobs) Jensen, 96, of Louisville passed away on July 19, 2016. Mary was born on December 15, 1919 in Wadena, Minnesota. She grew up in Minneapolis and attended the University of Minnesota where she met and married the love of her life, Randolph. After living in several areas of the U.S., Betty and the family moved to Louisville in 1962. Betty’s favorite activities included square dancing at Swingin’ Y and Harvey Bees; Red Hat Society; flying her Cessna 172; traveling the world; and, being the hostess of her Christmas and Derby parties. Her philanthropic activities included sponsorship of several children over the years through Children, Inc.; Crusade for Children; and Kentucky Humane Society.
She is survived by three children, daughters Marilee Heydt and husband Leonard of Louisville; Randi Jensen and husband John Butler of Seattle; son Scott Jensen and wife Gaynel of Dallas; grandson Matthew Jensen of Gainesville, Texas; and granddaughter Kelly Dawson of Dallas. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Randolph.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 23 at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd., from 2:00 to 4:00 pm followed directly by a memorial service. While flowers are appreciated, donations to Kentucky Humane Society, or the charity of your choice, are welcome.
