Mary Elsie McCoy Barnett Johnston, 89, passed away October 19, 2013 at Twin Brook Nursing Home in Louisville Kentucky. She was born March 9, 1924 in Louisville to the late Elmer Strother McCoy and Pearl Catherine Barker. Ms. Johnson was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, VFW American Legion Post 220 and VFW Post 220 Auxiliary Ladies.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, James E. Barnett and Kenneth Johnston.
She is survived by her children, Diane Miller (Jim), Donnie Barnett (Kathy), Steve Barnett (Vicki), and Tammy Blackwell Payne (Keith), her siblings, William Elmer McCoy and Emmitt Louis McCoy, 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be conducted Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 5:00 pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven 4400 Bardstown Road with a private entombment. Visitation will be from 2-5 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
