

Mary was born on August 12, 1919 in Walton, IN and moved to Louisville in 1936. She was an active member of the Louisville Women's Bowling Association for almost 50 years. She worked at the former Poplar Level Lanes for over 25 years and taught hundreds of children to bowl. She ran many tournaments, including the "Champion of Champions" tournament and was a secretary to many leagues there. In 1997 she was inducted into the LWBA Bowling Hall of Fame for her many years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David Oliver Hurd and Grace LaBounty Hurd Hufford; her husband, Charles; her brother, Robert; her daughter, Barbara; and sons, Wilbur and Michael.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Stettenbenz (Robert) and Shari Klosterman (Edward), and her son Daniel (Trish); also her daughters-in-law, Joyce Wells and Kaye Wells; a sister, Phyllis Richard (Larry); brother, Paul Hurd (Juanita), and a sister-in-law, Mary Hurd. Mary was also blessed to have 24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Mary's funeral service will be held noon Monday in the chapel at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Highway. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 1-8 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
