Maxine Rowland Spalding

December 3, 1928 - September 14, 2017

Spalding, Maxine Rowland (Chism), 88, passed away September 14, 2017. She was a wonderful mother of two, but also the sweetest second mother to many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Doc" Chism; brothers, W.D. Rowland, Ed Rowland, and Billey Rowland. She is survived by her brother, Sammy Rowland(Rosie) and sister, Nancy Roberson(Dale).

Maxine is loved by two daughters, Linda Kay Sutherland and Kim Marie Chism. She is the most cherished "Grammie" to six granddaughters, Taylor Knapp(Nick), Melody Sutherland, Harmony Sutherland, Madison Hamilton(John), Avalon Sutherland, and Hannah Schexneider(Andrew). She was also "Grammie" to three great-grandchildren, Raye Knapp, Wilkes Knapp, and Abel Hamilton.

She was sweet, giving, loving, and could say the funniest things at any moment. She was a square dancer, bowler, card player, seamstress, cook, and sci-fi fan who also owned the entire set of Game of Thrones books. She was an active member of Highview Baptist Church for many years and her Sunday School class was a constant source of love and support.

She will be sorely missed and always cherished.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Evergreen Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky.
