

Melvin Bruce Rucker, 65, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on June 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 18, 1960, to the late Raymond Rucker and Edna Jean Goins, Bruce lived a life dedicated to his family and his craft as a machinist and farmer. He retired from Hesco Parts and spent many hours with the Young family helping with the cattle on the Young & Robards farm. He was known for his attention to detail and strong work ethic.
Bruce was a devoted husband, son, brother and friend who cherished every moment spent with his family & friends. Bruce’s love for his family was evident in his role as a husband to Lisa, his wife of 46 years and their devoted pups, Charlene the Staffy, Agnes Jean and Mary Grace the AmStaffs, his sisters, Carol Jean Thompson (Dale), Cathy Allison (Gary), and Paula Raye Clem (John); his sister-in-law, Pam Maze, brother-in-law, Marion Gilkey (Connie), nephew, Rick Gilkey (Danna), Daniel Clem (Robyn), Ryan Gilkey, nieces, Katherine Gilkey , Shannon Smith, Missy Hopper (Kyle), Tina Allison. He was blessed with many great-nieces and nephews, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. Not to mention all the pets that found their way to Bruce and Lisa’s home.
Bruce now joins his dad, Raymond Rucker & mom, Edna Jean, in heaven, along with his nephew, Matthew Thompson, and great nephews Blake Thompson and Benjamin Clem. His caring spirit, devotion to his family, and dedication to his faith will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Visitation for Bruce will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12 pm at Arch L Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, Ky 40218 with a memorial service to follow in Heady-Resthaven’s chapel at 12 pm.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 12468 LaGrange Rd, Louisville, Ky 40245, a cause close to Bruce’s heart.
