He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond & Betty Burkhead.
Mike was a 1970 graduate of Trinity High School and attended the University of Louisville’s School of Music. He went on to work for Taylor Drug, Rite Aid, and Cox’s. Mike was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs & UofL. He was a loving Husband, Father, Brother, Papaw, & Uncle. His greatest joys were his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory, his wife of 39 years, Karen (Walker); children, Sara Cahill (Brian), Michael Burkhead (Brittany), & Robert Burkhead (Emily); grandchildren, Ashley, Wyatt, Brianna, Brayden, Audrey, & Hillary; brother, Phillip Burkhead; and sister, Theresa Minogue (Donnie).
Visitation is Friday, October 23, 2020, 10am-2pm, with a Celebration of Mike’s Life at 2pm in the sanctuary of Okolona Presbyterian Church, 8015 Shepherdsville Rd. In order to adhere to public health requirements, family members and friends are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
The family invites attendees to wear their favorite Cubs & UofL gear in Mike’s honor.
