

He was born in Louisville, KY to the late Joseph and Helen McConnell. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Christine Cothran.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Geiger McConnell ; children, Elizabeth Oglesby of Ballwin, MO, and Emily Pack (Matthew) of Louisville; grandchildren, Kayse Oglesby and Ronald Oglesby; siblings, David McConnell (Anna) of Pelham, AL, Judy Coulter of Louisville, KY, Nancy Holihan (Ronald) of St. Johns, FL, and Carl McConnell (Milinda) of Houston, TX; and his beloved dachshund, Buddy.
He and Kathleen were married for over 55 years and enjoyed traveling as much as they were able, especially for auto racing and baseball games. They attended the Indianapolis 500 for over 40 years until health made it difficult getting up in the stands. However, they still continued to watch on TV.
He was a member of Lynnhurst United Church of Christ and was an active member of the choir, Sunday School, and Bible Study. He sang with the Motet Singers of Louisville for over 30 years. He spent 35 years working at Hilliard-Lyons prior to retirement. He was an active member of Jeffersontown Masonic Lodge, Kosair Shrine, Scottish Rite, and was a Senior DeMolay. His biggest joys in life were his children and grandchildren. He loved to watch and encourage them in their music whenever he could.
He will be missed by all, especially his 4-legged friend, Buddy the dachshund, his constant companion and shadow.
Visitation will be 1:00PM – 8:00PM on Monday, June 2, 2025, and 10:00AM-12:00PM on Tuesday, June 3, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 6:30PM on Monday. Funeral Service will be at 12:00PM on Tuesday, June 3, in the chapel at the funeral home, with interment in Resthaven Memorial Park to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WHAS Crusade for Children or Shriners Hospital.
