Michael Edward Price, Sr., 69, of Louisville, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. He was born in Louisville on March 13, 1952 as Gary David Bryant. Soon after birth he was adopted by Edward and Dorothy Price, where his name was changed to Michael Edward Price. He attended grade school at St. Bernard and St. Gabriel, where he played baseball and football. Michael was inducted into the St. Gabriel Junior Baseball League Hall of Fame in 1963. He later attended Trinity High School, where he played basketball and football, while also participating in track & field. Michael was a part of Trinity’s first state championship football team in 1968. He worked part-time at the local Winn-Dixie during his free time while in high school. Michael was on pace to graduate with his fellow classmates in 1970, but left school early to enlist in the United States Marine Corps in November of 1969. He was a proud member of the USMC for two years before returning to his hometown in 1971. When he returned home, Michael helped his father work on various brick masonry jobs around the city. He continued his love for football by volunteering as a coach in the Fern Creek youth league in 1974. After his time in brick masonry with his father, Michael worked in both the automotive and sales industries, most notably with Masterbilt Motors, Sure Fire Engines, Evans Furniture, and Mees Tile & Marble. His passion for brick masonry was always in the background, as he helped teach the trade to inmates at the Marion Adjustment Center in St. Mary, Kentucky in 1990, while doing the occasional side job when desired. Michael began working as a sales and marketing representative for the Sherman-Pearson Company in the summer of 2003, where he spent the last 18 years as a loyal employee. Outside of work, most of his free time was devoted to his family. His joy came through attending sporting events, dance recitals, plays, cruises, road trips, and trips to Disney World with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dorothy; and his son Brian.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Linda; his sister, Madolyn (Eddy) Meyer of Borden, Indiana; his sons, Chris (Amber) Tincher of Avon, Indiana, David (Phillip) of Barboursville, West Virginia, Michael, Jr. (Kyrstin), and Corey of Louisville; his daughters, Susan (Barbara) Tincher of Los Angeles, California and Missy (April) Tincher of Louisville; his grandchildren, Chloe, Jasmine, and Reece Tincher; and nieces and nephews.
