She was born in Devon, England (Muriel Katherine Stoneman) where she lived until marrying and traveling to the United States with her husband and love of her life, Air Force veteran, Thomas York Stretz (deceased).
She retired from Phillip Morris Tobacco Company to be the caregiver for her Mother-in-Law, Agnes Stretz and her sister, Edna Ewing, and to be the baby-sitter extraordinaire for her seven grandchildren. She will be remembered for her generosity of spirit and her kindness to all.
Special thanks to her “second family” at Jefferson Manor for their love, care and support. Ms. Stretz loved all of her caregivers, and she was especially close to Niecee Cole. Thanks also to Dr. Jane Cornett for her kindness and professionalism and to Dr. Roy Upton who was so much more than her physician.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas York Stretz. She is survived by a son, Dana Stretz; daughters, Diane Stretz - Thurmond (David), Adrienne Schusterman (Kurt) and Rosalind Wetzig (William); seven grandchildren, Tony, Nick, Kristen, Alex, Torrey, Natalie and Devon; nieces, Angela Townsend (Al), Valetta Wehrenberg (Mark), nephews Richard Ewing, Trevor Ewing (Etta), Carl Stoneman (Patricia), and Malcolm Stoneman who made many visits from New Zealand to spend time with Auntie Muriel.
Visitation will be at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Road, Louisville, KY 40222 Sunday, June 29 from 2:00-4:00 PM with a memorial service and reception immediately following. A private burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park on Monday, June 30. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the KY Humane Society.
