Nancy Smith

Born on July 26, 1929 in Lebanon, KY, she lived a long and joy-filled life centered on faith, family, and love for the simple beauties of the world. She found joy in her garden, tending to her flowers, her sports teams, saying her prayers, and her undying devotion to her family. Her laughter was contagious, (YooHoo!!) her spirit full of life, and her strong faith unwavering. She was resilient and strong and brought so much joy, laughter and wisdom to her family and others.

She, and her beloved husband, John Edwin Smith, Jr., who passed away at the age of 82 in 2007, together raised 10 children, Tom (Cheryl) Smith, Faye (Tommy) Downey, Garry (Debbie) Smith, Nancy (Jimmy) Stout, Julia (Jack) Smarr, Pat (Ernie) Cruse, Pam (Vince) Jarboe, Lisa McWard, Jay (Leslie) Smith, Jennifer (David) Wilson, and their legacy continues through their 25 grandchildren, and 18 (plus three on the way) great-grandchildren, who adored them deeply. To each of them, they were a source of wisdom, warmth, and unconditional love.

Mother, Mom, Grandmother, GrandTucky will be remembered for her gentle strength, her joyful heart, and the way she welcomed everyone with kindness. Her home was filled with lots of love and laughter.

She has quite a legacy and we will forever miss her and cherish our memories of her. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure and her love will live on in all who knew her.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 25, at Ascension Catholic Parish, 4600 Lynnbrook Drive, followed by interment in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2:00 - 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 24, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd, and 9:00 - 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 25, at Ascension.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association of America.
