He was a retired repair and relief man for Ford Motor Company and worked as a mechanic at Sunoco Service Station. He had also been the co-owner of Ultimate Tan, and he enjoyed his time at the car lot and going to car shows with Tony and his grandson, Anthony.
Mr. Alvey was preceded in rest by his wife, Connie Alvey; parents, Loy and Faye Alvey; brother, Loy Alvey Jr.; and sisters, Jeannie Wick, Charlotte Alvey and Martha Lawrence.
Mr. Alvey is survived by his son, Tony Alvey (Lisa); a daughter, Shellie Settles; step-children, Arty Strulson, Lon Cahill and Trisha Nolbertowicz (George); several grand and great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenny Alvey (Barbara); two sisters, Ethel Adkins (Bennett) and Kathy Hornback (Chuck); sister-in-law, Carol Alvey; and brother-in-law, Bob Wick.
His funeral will be 11:30am Wednesday at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, with entombment following in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 2pm until 8pm on Tuesday.
