

He was born December 6, 1932 in Wichita, Kansas. He was a graduate of East High School, and received his AB degree from Baylor University. He was ordained as a minister at Emanuel Baptist Church, Wichita, KS.
He received MA and PHD degrees from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He retired in 1997 as Librarian from Southern Seminary. He was a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon, Louisville East Lions, American Theological Library Association, Barnette’s Buddies, and various gardening groups. Paul loved his family, his church, helping people, choir, and was a great note writer.
Paul leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and compassion. He will truly be remembered for being humble, generous with his time and talents and intelligent as well as a courageous Christian with integrity.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Amelia Orr Debusman, his two daughters; Melanie Lynn Debusman Bunger (Brian) and Amelia Ann Debusman McCarty (Bill). His grandchildren; Rachel Elizabeth and William Paul Bunger, Sean Matthew, Rebecca Ann, Kathryn Amelia, and Hannah Lynn McCarty.
A service to celebrate the life of Paul will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, in the sanctuary of Crescent Hill Baptist Church, 2800 Frankfort Ave. with interment to follow at Cave Hill.
Visitation will be held 3-8 pm Wednesday at Arch L. Heady-Cralle, 2428 Frankfort Ave.
