It is with deepest sympathy that we announce that our father and grandfather Phillip Lewis Sheets, age 85, of Prospect Kentucky, has returned to our heavenly father to be reunited with the love of his life and wife Linda Kay Sheets. Phil died peacefully on June 7, 2025, under the care of Hosparus and the wonderful staff at Jefferson Place.
Phillip was born in Wichita, KS on September 24, 1939, to Donald Harry & Katherine Marie Sheets. Soon after, the family moved to St. Louis, MO where Phil attended Richmond Heights High School. He excelled wrestling, track & field and served 4 years on the school newspaper staff. He attended college at the University of Purdue and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Phil studied chemical engineering, and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1962. Soon after graduation, Phil was drafted into the United States Army where he proudly served his country for 7 years as a Captain in a Field Artillery Unit. While in the Army, Phil fell in love and married Linda Kay Mears. Phil was discharged from the Army in 1969 and began his civilian career in chemical sales. His career moved his family to Charlotte, NC for a few years before moving to Louisville in 1973. Phil had a very successful career working for Ferro Corporation as a professional account representative in the pigments division until retiring in 2005.
Phil had many interests including traveling, boating, hunting, fishing, model trains, and was an avid reader of novels. He also enjoyed the occasional round of golf. The family spent many summers vacationing at Lake Barkley State Park. But most of all, Phil enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends, and he would proudly share his numerous stories and attempt to show off his barbeque skills.
