

Richard “Rick” Jackman, 75, of Louisville Ky, passed away peacefully in his Simpsonville home on December 26, 2025. Rick was born on January 13, 1950, in Corry PA, but spent his adult and professional life in Louisville, which included a 30 year career in law enforcement with the Louisville Police Department and Jeffersontown Police Department.
Rick’s assignments and achievements are too numerous to list. He retired from LPD in 2000 as a sergeant, always proud to have served our community, taken care of his platoon officers, and supported his commanders.
In retirement, Rick remained busy and dedicated to many community, civic, and charitable organizations and events. He has been a life-long member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 6/614; served as president of Highland Park Masonic Lodge No. 865 F.&A.M. a 32 degree master mason; a member of the Blue Knights M.C. Chapter 7; and most recently a member of the River Cities Corvette Club. And Rick’s love of bass fishing lasted more than 50 years, fishing tournaments as semi-pro, with the F.O.P., and for pleasure with family and friends
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Donna Jackman; his sister, Cheryl Jackman; and his ex-wife, Donna Mae Jackman.
He is survived by his son, Sean Jackman (Rhonda); his daughter, Chrys Thomas (Matthew); and grandchildren, Miranda (Evan), Devin (Abigail), Thomas, Lucy, and Stella. He is also survived by his brother, Daniel Jackman (Pamela).
Guests are invited to a visitation from 2PM - 8PM on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd., Louisville KY 40218. A funeral service will be held at 2PM on Monday, January 5, 2026 in the funeral home chapel, with a second visitation starting at 11AM on the day of the funeral. Entombment will be at Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any gifts to be made to Hosparus Health of Louisville or the Louisville Metro Police Foundation.
