He was born November 11, 1942 in Louisville, the son of the late Louis William and Pearl Ruth Wild Scanlon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Inge M. Scanlon and one sister, Paula Scanlon.
Richard was a retired Master Sergeant from the Kentucky Air National Guard and was a member of Bethel St. Paul Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kimberley M. Scanlon and Rick Scanlon (Lisa); four grandchildren, Harrison Scanlon, Shawn Giffin, Danek Giffin and Mackenzie Scanlon; three siblings, Diana Ohlmann (David), Tom Scanlon (Carmen) and Sharon Meffert (Dennis).
A service to celebrate Richard’s life will be conducted at 5:00 PM Sunday, October 1, 2017 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village 7410 Westport Rd. Visitation will be from 1-5 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of customary expressions, donations should be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Hosparus.
