Rick was born in Louisville, KY to Joseph S. Volz and Juanita White Volz. He loved the 60’s and the many friends he made at Seneca High School and Western Kentucky University.
After returning from Vietnam, Rick explored a variety of career options beginning with WDRB as a producer/director. He worked at Purolator Courier, became a barber, postman, owned Frankfort Ave. Beer Depot and Barrett Liquors, and retired from UPS.
Rick is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Carole (Roberts), his sons, Bryan (Andrea), and Kyle (Lyndsey), his precious 4- legged “daughter” Lily, best friends, Ed and Donna Taylor, and all of his “grand dogs”.
A visitation for Richard will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Richard will be laid to rest privately within Resthaven Memorial Park.
The family requests that memorials be sent to the Heel Dog Heal facility dog program at Norton Healthcare or St. Jude Children’s Cancer Research.
