My wife and I met Ralph and Lois, Rick's parents, at Scott Air Force Base in 1954 when we were both in the Air Force.  We became friends and had a lot of good times together.  We visited them in Lake Charles, LA in 1956.  Rick had not been born at that time.  We then visited them in 1964 in Huntington, WV.  At that time Rick was 8 years old and that was the only time we ever met Rick.  We lost track of them until August 20, 2010 when we contacted them through Rick's Email.  Ironically, this was only 3 days before Rick passed away.

I am so sorry to hear about Rick, we had great times playing Batman and Robbin in the back yard. As we grow older we all loose touch with our childhood friends but we never forget the memories.Love to the Family

I am deeply saddened by the passing of my friend Rick Johnson.  He was my friend for over 45 years and I have many great memories of him.    No matter how much time went between phone calls I could always count on calling him and picking back up like we just spoke yesterday.   Rick was a kind and giving person that you could always count on.  He truly loved to just help people.

It was with great sadness that I heard of Rick's passing. I know, for you, his family, it is a very difficult thing to accept. I'm so sorry. I enjoyed talking to Rick last fall at our reunion as others have said. And on the occasional times I ran in to him around town. He was a positive force of nature for the most part, both as a teenager in high school and on through life as an adult. I know you will miss him as will we all. The only consolation we can have is the certainty that he is at peace in a safe and loving place from now on out. Pain and worry gone, replaced with only love and light. He will be missed and remembered by many friends which is a testament to his success in life.

I was so sorry to hear this sad news about Rick.  I remember a couple of years after we graduated high school my Dad was having a heart attack. We called for EMS and as I'm tying to help my Dad in walks Rick as part of the volunteer squad.  He helped me keep my Dad calm so they could help him. Rick was always a positive light in a dark day.He always seemed to be there.Where ever there was.Ironically,Rick was one of my
first friends to come by to visit me when my Mother died.After high school we didn't keep in touch.However,if anyone hadn't changed 
one bit over the many years,it would have to be Rick.I remember laughing until I almost cried talking with Rick and him remembering
numerous details from our highschool years
