

He was born September 13, 1938, to the late Charles Mack and Mary Christine Tharp Vance, who preceded him in death.
Bob was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Helen Vance; his brother, Ralph W. Mattingly, and his son, Robert L. Vance, Jr.
He was a graduate of Manual High School, and retired from Philip Morris after nearly 34 years of service. Bob was a longtime member of the Jefferson County Sportsman Club, Jefferson Gun Club, Knob Creek Gun Range, and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; Son, Michael Vance; Daughter, Patti Ryan; his brothers: Eddie Vance (Sarah), Roger Vance (Gail), Jody Vance (Gail), Larry Mattingly (Shan), and Danny Mattingly (Robin); his sisters, Carol Aubrey (Jerry), Carla Inojo, Denise Brahim (Mohamed), and Tammi V. Powers (Bruce); his grandson, Patrick Ryan; and his dear friend, David Reece.
The family would like to thank the FMS South Louisville and Jewish Medical Center Southwest staff for taking care of Bob during his illness.
A celebration of life service will be held for Bob at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home located at
4400 Bardstown Road at 2:00P.M. on Saturday. Visitation will be held from 4-8P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
