Robert Kenneth Thornhill, 86, died December 25, 2016 at his home. He was born March 2, 1930 in Guston, Ky to the late George and Lula Mae Thornhill. He is also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Thornhill and daughter, Shirley Mae Thornhill. He was a U.S. Army veteran that served during the Korean War and a member of the Kentucky Colonels. Together with his wife, he was a proud owner of Mae’s Bakery and was asked to deliver donuts to President Clinton at the White House. He enjoyed watching game shows and John Wayne movies and loved his dog.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mae Thornhill; daughter, Deborah Swartz; step-daughters, Elaine Riedley and Sandra Howard; a brother, George Thomas Thornhill; a sister, Dorothy; several grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and 1 great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at Arch L. Heady and Son Southern Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor Blvd. His Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Friday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
