Ron was a graduate of Manual High School and UofL, where he majored in business—approaching life with a steady sense of purpose and a thoughtful attention to what mattered most. Throughout his years, Ron’s devotion was evident in the commitments he kept and the care he showed to those around him, grounded in a faithful spirit that shaped the way he lived and loved. Ron was a longtime member of Highview Baptist Church.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Robert Thurman & Katherine Berry Thurman; and his sister, Barbara VanSickle.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Ennis Thurman; his son, Ronald Todd Thurman (Vicki); his sisters, Teresa Cowles (Jim) and Linda Bryan (Steve); and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 11am Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Arch L Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road Louisville, KY 40218 with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 4-7pm Friday, April 24, 2026, at Arch L Heady at Resthaven; and 10-11am Saturday, April 25, 2026.
