Born on December 20, 1941, in Milwaukee, Roy was a lifelong learner and dedicated family man. He attended New Albany High School before continuing his education at Indiana University and later earning his degree in Physics from the University of Louisville.
Roy spent the majority of his life living in Indiana before enjoying his retirement years in North Fort Myers. In his final six months, he returned to Indiana to be surrounded by his family.
He built a long and respected career with Ford Motor Company, where he worked for 35 years as a maintenance superintendent. He was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and steady presence.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley L. McCutchan, who passed away 17 years ago, and by his companion of 14 years, Jeanne Winans, who passed just one month before him.
Roy is survived by his two children: Tim Brandt (Rachel) and Kimberly Enteman (Art). He was a proud grandfather to Amanda Curl (Ryan), Abby Dodson (Scott), Aaron Enteman, Alex Brandt, and Adam Brandt, and a loving great-grandfather to Landon, Lexi, Logan, Ryder, Renley, and Levee.
Roy found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time on the golf course, cheering on Indiana Hoosiers sports, and enjoying his years in Florida—often with a margarita in hand. Roy enjoyed his many visits to Chicago while seeing his grandsons Alex and Adam and the many sights in Chicago. Above all, he cherished time with his family.
Private services will be held for the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus Health of Southern Indiana, 502 Hausfeldt Lane, New Albany, IN 47150.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his dedication to family, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him.
