Ruth S Gilbert

Gilbert, Ruth Spragens, 79, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. Ruth was born in Lebanon, Kentucky to the late Thomas Sr. and Edna (Clark) Spragens. Ruth is preceded in death by her son, Russell Gilbert Jr., and brothers, Thomas “Gene” Spragens Jr., and William “Bill” Spragens.

Ruth is a graduate of University of Louisville Masters Music Program and Georgetown College. You will remember Ruth as the talented staff pianist from places such as the Louisville Ballet, Von Maur, University of Louisville Dance Academy, Youth Performing Arts School, and Green Acres Baptist Church.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Denise Gilbert, from Louisville, Kentucky, and Natalie Gilbert (Miranda), from Los Angeles, California; her grandchildren, Ben Gilbert (Christina), Brittany Gilbert, and Ryan Gilbert; and one great grandchild.

A funeral service has been scheduled for Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 12:00pm at Arch L Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville Kentucky, 40218 with entombment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday, December 12, 2016 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Youth Performing Arts School – Dance Department, 1517 S. 2nd St., Louisville Kentucky, 40208.
