Sharon Lee Ford

A visitation for Sharon will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218 as well as 9:00AM – 10:00AM on Wednesday, September 4th. A funeral service will immediately follow at 10:00AM and conclude with a graveside service at Resthaven.

Sharon was born in Louisville, KY to George Maurice and Nina Florence Edelen on March 28, 1948. After meeting as teenagers, she married the love of her life, Thomas Ford, on April 18, 1970 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. She and Tom spent their professional lives building their own garage door company where Sharon served in all areas related to office management, customer service, and bookkeeping. However, what she will forever be remembered for is her compassion and caregiving nature she generously shared with everyone who encountered her. Her legacy will forever be the tireless and fierce love, care, and support given to her son, Thomas “Mikey” Ford as he suffered from a terminal illness and preceded her in death on February 6, 2008 at the age of 20.

In addition to her son, Sharon is proceeded in death by her parents George and Nina Edelen as well as her mother and father-in-law, Alex and Dorothy Ford who were a second set of parents to her and a significant part of her life.

In addition to her husband, Tom, Sharon is survived by her daughters Donna Heatherly (Jim), and Patricia Fugate both of Louisville, KY; sister Carol Bolton; brother Michael Edelen (Brenda); grandchildren Jordan Heatherly (Madison), James Payton, Hayley Macon (Daniel), and Thomas Fugate.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hosparus Health Louisville and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The family of Sharon wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Justin Anderson and his care team with Baptist Health who befriended her during treatment and watched over with the greatest care as well as Hospice Health who showed genuine compassion and care during her final days.
