Steve Logsdon 92, passed away Saturday May 4th, 2024 peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Leaving behind a legacy of service, love, and dedication. He is survived by his beloved wife Beverly nee Smrekar and cherished children Billy (Charlotte) Miller, Kathy (Morris) Self, Judy (Chris) Hollister, and Frank Nash. His memory lives on through his grandchildren Cody (Marissa) Alsip, Brittany Alsip (Diane); Jace Hollister, Keith (Michelle) Miller, and Dawn (Chad) Burns, Stephen Self (Nae), Donnie Self (Wendy), and Misty Jones; as well as many great-grandchildren and dear friends. He is also survived by his sister Mary Williams.
Steve resided in Rotonda West, Florida, for many years, but his roots were in Louisville, where he retired from GE after years of dedicated service.
His life was marked by remarkable achievements and unwavering commitment. With an extraordinary 75 years dedicated to scouting, he mentored an astounding 130 Eagle Scouts, leaving an indelible mark on generations to come. His commitment extended beyond scouting, encompassing a remarkable 33 1/2 years of military service, a testament to his patriotism and dedication to his country.
In addition to his service, Steve generously devoted many years to coaching sports at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Louisville, Kentucky, instilling values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and dedication in countless young athletes.
A devout member of St. Francis Catholic Church Grove City, FL, Steve was deeply involved in his community, contributing his time and efforts to organizations such as the Rotonda Elks, American Legion, VFW, and Knights of Columbus, where he held the esteemed title of a third-degree member. Steve's contributions to society were recognized with the distinguished honor of being named Kentucky Colonel twice, reflecting the profound impact he had on those around him.
Steve is preceded in death by his first wife, Maryann Bruckert, affectionately known as Kitty and their infant daughter Becky, his beloved brothers and his best friend Bear Soule. While he leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, his memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
The funeral will be held on Friday, May 17th at 10:00 am at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church ( 5505 Bardstown, Louisville Kentucky) with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. A visitation will be on Thursday from 2:00pm to 7:00pm at the funeral home.
A celebration of Steve's life will be held on June 1st at 11:30 at the American Legion in Rotonda West, FL
