

Thelma Paris Humston Newton, age 97, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, at BeeHive Homes of Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on November 9, 1928, to Theodore and Anna Paris, the second youngest of eight children. Thelma lived a long and fulfilling life marked by love, resilience, and devotion to her family and her faith.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Humston, and her second husband, Junior Newton, as well as her children, Brenda and Wayne. Thelma is survived by her loving children Sam Humston (Jan), Anna Stump, and Peggy Hudson; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Thelma was a devoted servant of the Lord and a faithful member of Harvest Baptist Church. Her unwavering faith guided her throughout her life and served as an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, humor, and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy of faith and love will continue through all whose lives she touched.
A celebration of Thelma’s life will be held at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., followed by graveside at 11 a.m. at Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Wednesday.
