

Thelma was born in Louisville on January 11, 1918, the daughter of Octavia Neal and James Newton Dupin. Springing from deep roots in Nelson County, Thelma grew up in western Louisville. After graduating from Shawnee High School in 1936, she married Lawrence G. Myers, who preceded her in death. She was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church for seven decades, and worked in the toy department at the old Sears store in St. Matthews for many years. Thelma was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who loved family gatherings and celebrations. Her lifelong interest in history and genealogy led her to become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by four children, Lawrence R. Myers (Beverle), Marilyn Melton (Steve), Jacquelyn Myers, and Neal Myers (Sally); four granddaughters, Marilyn Edick (Miles), Megan McKinney (Russell), Sarah Farris (Jimmy), Sarah Salvatoriello (Matt); and four grandsons, Paul Melton (Janna), Ronald Couch (Alexia), Matthew Myers (Tiffany), and Lawrence N. Myers. She was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, May 19, 12 noon at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY. Inurnment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.. Visitation with the family will be the same day, from 9 AM until the service.
