He moved to Kentucky while serving in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Knox. There, he met Joyce Butterhoff, who would later become his wife—after he fell in love with her mother’s cooking. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three children: Tom, Missy, and Steve.
Tom worked for BF Goodrich for 32 years before retiring. He and Joyce cherished their time together on Tom’s Joy, their beloved houseboat at Dale Hollow Lake.
A dedicated member of his community, Tom volunteered for 22 years with the Highview Fire Department, where he developed a deep passion for the WHAS Crusade for Children. He was one of the original members of the fire coordination team and continued to serve faithfully until his passing.
Tom also had a lifelong love of model railroading and was an active member of the Radcliff Model Railroad Club. Many Saturdays were happily spent with his son, Tom, chasing trains and building layouts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce; his brother, Edward; his children, Steve and Michelle; his granddaughter, Beth; and his great-granddaughter, Marly.
Left to honor his memory are his son Tom (Lori); his grandchildren Rebecca Bridwell, Tommy Boisvert (Devanny), Zachary Bridwell (Jenn), Rachel Hellums (Chris), Stephen Boisvert, Ashley Smith, Sara Bridwell, and Meghan Bridwell; along with 18 great-grandchildren who will carry his legacy forward.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, November 10, 2025 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
