My name is Derrick Johnson.  I was a long time friend of Brett. When  I found out that he passed, I felt a lot of pain from the loss of a really good friend. The time I spent with him was always good. Whether sitting around playing video games, having drinks, or riding our sport bikes to a race in Birmingham and Atlanta. Hanging out with him was always cool. My biggest regret is that we lost touch over the years and was unable to reconnect again. 
So, I'm sending my condolences his family.  May he forever live on in our hearts for as long   
as we all shall live.  So long my dear friend. 🍻 " You will be missed "😢

Brett was (is) my "brother from another mother"!  He and I have shared years of good times, and bad times.  But all of those years were as brothers, and as friends!  He will be truly missed!  My heart is with the family!  Rest easy my friend!!!!

I will never be able to put into words how special it was to be loved by Brett. It’s a kind of love that you feel in your soul and carry with you for the rest of your life. It’s the kind of love they write about in books and show in movies. It’s how you feel when you play your favorite song. It’s when you drive with your windows down. Or fall asleep to the rain outside. It’s the sun that shines through your window in the morning. Or when you hear the birds sing songs. It’s a love that can make you laugh until you cry. 
It never hurts you on purpose. It doesn’t strive to make you jealous. It doesn’t hold a grudge. And it always forgives. It’s a love that is safe. It’s a love that can heal. And it’s a love that never ends. That was our love for each other. And I am forever grateful to experience a love like that in my life. 
It was how he loved everybody in his life. And I know that because I saw it. Every memory he shared with me about someone he loved, I saw his love for you in his smile. I saw his happiness, I saw his laughter, and I saw his love to the point it brought him to tears. When he thought of you, that was how he loved you. With a love he felt in his soul. 

And that is a love that will never disappear.

It’s hard to find the words for this kind of loss. My stepdad has passed away, and my heart feels it deeply.
He wasn’t just “my stepdad”—he was family, he was presence, and he was part of some of my most important memories.
Thank you for everything you gave, even the things that went unsaid. I hope you’re resting peacefully now. You’ll always be loved and remembered. 🤍

So many memories I have of you Hamilton. You were one of a kind with a the greatest dry sense of humor! Your quick wittiness and a facial expressions made us all gut laugh! 
Charlee Marie was blessed with the best daddy and she loves you so big Brett. 
You will be missed and never forgotten. May your body and mind be at ease now. 💙
