Thomas Orville James Brown, 70, went to be with the Lord December 29, 2019. He was born July 4, 1949 to the late Thomas Orville James Brown Sr and Maria Helper. Tom went to Male High School where he played football. When his sons Greg and Todd started playing sports he coached their teams. As they grew older he was always at their games. he loved his sons and very proud of them. Tom also loved his step daughters as his own and they loved and thought of him as their Dad. One of the proudest moments he had was when the girls got married he walked them down the aisle. At reception, the Father Daughter dance. they loved him and always made sure he was well taken care of. Tom was the best Papa. If the grandchildren wanted something he saw they got it. Had him go to toys R Us for a ball pit, he comes back with one as big as the living room. He picked up Cole every day from school kindergarten till Cole got his license. Cole loved chocolate milk and kit kats. Tom would race home from work, get chocolate milk and a Kit Kat, put it in his lunch cooler, go to school and wait for Cole. he nicknamed everyone. when Calie was born he called her Twinkles because she made his eyes twinkle. Cole was Chuckers, Oliva was Woo Woo, Dustin Thomas was Dustin, his name sank. he loved each and everyone.
Tom had a dry sense of humor and quick wit. Although a man of few words he would surprise you with a perfect one liner that would make everyone laugh. Tom was a giving and caring person who put others first. it was difficult to show your appreciation for all he did because he didn't want much. when the kitchen, he would come up behind me, hug me and say "you know I love you." I would say "yes I'm at the stove". he loved home cooked meals and I liked to cook. This was my way of showing him how much I loved and appreciated him. He was the best part of me.
Tom and Grace met on a blind date and knew they had met the love of their lives. married 36 short years on November 12, 1983. always together, never apart.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Carol Brown and Thelma Clark (sis) nephew Doug Brown, sister in law, Karen Pickston, and father in law Lucien Cecil
Tom is survived by his wife Grace Brown, sons Greg Brown (Jennifer), Todd Brown (Beverly), step daughters Rebekah Kimzey (michael) and Laura Wittmer. Grandchildren Calie Brown, Cole Wittmer, Dustin Brown, abd Oliva Kimzey. Sister in laws, Bonnie Farley (Curtis), cherie Kenney, Debbie Dyer (Tim), Lena Roff (Brad), Brother in law, Tom Cecil (allison) and a numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January, 1, 2020 from 2pm-8pm and Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 12pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with entombment at Resthaven Memorial Park Presiding the funeral will be pastors Brian Campbell and Theo Dues .
Tom was Baptized at Shively Christian Church and served as a Deacon He rarely missed Sunday service, Sunday School, or Wednesday bible study .
