Thomas Jerald Gaebler, 75, of Igloo, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2025.
Tom was born and raised in South Dakota, where he developed a deep love for the outdoors. Hunting, hiking, sports, and coaching quickly became his lifelong passions. In high school, he moved to Paris Kentucky and later attended Eastern Kentucky University from 1969 to 1971, where he made his mark as a record-setting punter for the EKU Colonels.
Tom spent over 30 years with the Jefferson County Public School system, dedicating his career to education and youth development. He retired as principal of Moore Traditional Middle School, where he was known for his strong leadership and passion for his peers and students.
He loved golfing, hunting, and spending time in nature. But more than anything, Tom will be remembered for his generous spirit and the deep friendships he built and cherished throughout his life.
Tom is survived by his sons Tyler and Brian Gaebler, and his brother Randy Gaebler.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Friday, June 20, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. All who knew and loved him are welcome to stop by and pay their respects.
