She was born on August 3, 1962 in Newark, New Jersey to Danks and Grace Carter. Valerie had worked for National Textiles and also for the American Red Cross.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers Dennis Wayne, Charlie Bob and David Carter and a sister Carolyn Mitchell.
She is survived by her loving son Derrell Valentine (Tiffany); sisters Violet Carter-Singleton (Darren), Arlene Carter-West (Jai), Maxine Carter ( Regina), Joyce Ann McAfee, Nia Carter, Betty Lipcomb, Grace Carter and a brother Kermit Carter (Carol) .Grandchildren Navonte, Darion, Maury, Niamya, Mereous and Derrell Jr. as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2-3 with service starting at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Arch L. Heady Westport Funeral Home, 7410 Westport Rd.
