Born to the late Bruner Arnett and Olivia Risner Arnett, Velma is also preceded in passing by her children, Jennifer Kaye and Jeffrey Clay, and her six siblings. Here to carry on her memory is her adoring husband of 64 years, Clay Lykins; her grandchildren Clayton (Shelbie), Brandon, and Tyler; her brother Dwayne Arnett (Prudy); Tim and Mary Beth Mills; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Velma was a devoted educator of Jefferson County Public Schools. She was dedicated to every child she taught. Velma was a loving Wife, Mother, and Mee-Maw. She was an avid reader, enjoyed shopping, and was a great cook. Her favorite hobby was traveling the world with her beloved husband, with Europe being their favorite place to explore. Velma will be deeply missed by everyone in her life.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville KY 40218. A funeral service in Velma’s honor will take place on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Velma will be laid to rest privately in Resthaven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus of Louisville or Highview Baptist Church.
