She was born October 31, 1931 in Metcalfe County, KY, the daughter of the late James Thomas and Dora Ella (Shaw) Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilbard L. Underwood, Sr.; one son, Peter Hanisch Underwood and two great-grandchildren.
Veta was a 62 year member St. James Catholic Church. She loved her family, never met a stranger and always maintained an open-door policy in her home and in her heart.
Survivors include her sister, Edith Anderson; her children, Betty Jaggers (Brent), Wilbard Lee Underwood, Jr. (Cathy), Evelyn England (Barry), Paula Misajon (Chuck), Mary Hornek (Joseph); eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 PM on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 PM on Monday, October 3, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church, 1826 Edenside Ave. with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
