He was a native of the Philippines and a veteran of World War II. He studied accounting at the Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines and was awarded a BSC degree. He retired from the EDP Services of the Manila City Hall in 1977. He later retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield in 1987. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Assumption.
He is survived by his loving wife, Natividad P. Hernando; a son, Jon P. Hernando (Becky); a daughter, Amy H. Castaneda (Alan); a brother, Aniceto Hernando; and his granddaughters, Brooke and Blair.
His Celebration of Life Mass will be held tentatively on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 10 a.m. at his church, 433 S. 5th St., with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Sunday and after 9 a.m. on Monday at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: San Lorenzo at the Cathedral of the Assumption.
