Walter Scott Fortney

Walter Scott Fortney, 73, passed away on Wednesday September 23, 2020. He was born on November 1, 1946 in Perry County KY to the late Walter Fortney Sr., and Georgia Mae Stewart. Mr. Fortney was a concrete finisher and a carpenter by trade, a member of Minor Lane Baptist Church and an Marine veteran of the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Jackson. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, the former Linda Carol Smith; his daughter, Stacy Fortney; sons, Shawn Staab and Anthony Fortney; brothers, Jimmy, Charles, and Kenny Fortney; a sister, Lisa Dentith; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Funeral service for Mr. Fortney will be held at 6 pm Sunday September 27, 2020 in the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with cremation to follow. Inurnment with military honors will take place at a later date at KY Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 2 pm till service time at 6. Social distancing with facemask are required.
