Walter was a proud veteran of the US Army and retired from GE Appliance Park.
He loved college sports and had a T-shirt, sweatshirt and ball cap for all his favorite teams. He was a kind and generous soul and was loved by everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred Slater and his wife Shirley.
He is survived by his twin sister Jean Davidson (Rudy), his nephew Steve Bodner, stepchildren, Sheila Hooe and Brian Dixon, two grandsons, two great grandsons, three great nieces and two great great nieces, many good friends and his best friend Tiffany Embry, her family and his fur baby precious.
Visitation will take place Thursday, August 19 from 11-2pm. A service to celebrate his life will begin at 2:00pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Mr. Slater will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park.
