A proud graduate of Dupont Manual High School's class of 1987, Wessly's passion for the outdoors was evident from his youth. His commitment to nature and community was honored when he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 1, a milestone that would foreshadow a lifetime of dedication to the things he loved.

Wessly's professional life was rooted in the earth he so adored. He spent his entire career in landscaping, shaping and nurturing the environment with the same care he gave to all aspects of his life. His work was not just a job but a calling, as he left a trail of green spaces that continue to be enjoyed by many.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Wessly's heart belonged to his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 27 years, Melanie Payne, and a loving father to his sons, Wyatt and Warren Payne. His family was his pride and joy, and he instilled in them the values of love, selflessness, and the pursuit of adventure.

Wessly was preceded in death by his uncle, Danny Payne, but his legacy lives on through his beloved parents, Brenda and Glenn Payne; his sister, Deidra Payne; his brother, Daniel Payne (Trish); his aunt, Cathy Belew (Jim); his nephew, Jordan Payne (Kristen); and his niece, Brooklyn Payne (Jacob). His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his hosts of friends and extended family, all of whom were touched by his generous spirit.

An avid outdoorsman, Wessly found solace and joy in the embrace of nature. He loved to camp and fish, and many will remember the laughter and stories shared around campfires and on serene lake shores. A huge fan of the University of Kentucky, Wessly's enthusiasm for his team was infectious, and game days were always a special occasion in the Payne household.

His selfless nature was a beacon of light, guiding others through acts of kindness and compassion.
