Beyond his professional endeavors, Wessly's heart belonged to his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 27 years, Melanie Payne, and a loving father to his sons, Wyatt and Warren Payne. Wessly was preceded in death by his uncle, Danny Payne, but his legacy lives on through his beloved parents, Brenda and Glenn Payne; his sister, Deidra Payne; his brother, Daniel Payne (Trish); his aunt, Cathy Belew (Jim); his nephew, Jordan Payne (Kristen); and his niece, Brooklyn Payne (Jacob). His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his hosts of friends and extended family, all of whom were touched by his generous spirit.

A huge fan of the University of Kentucky, Wessly's enthusiasm for his team was infectious, and game days were always a special occasion in the Payne household.
