He was born on August 3, 1932, in Louisville Kentucky to the lates William and Louise (Zimmerman) Katzman. He retired after 43 years of service from the Henry Vogt Machine Co. Bill was an avid sportsman enjoying fishing at his favorite place (Spooky Hollow) and enjoyed watching basketball, football and the Reds baseball team. He started playing softball soon after getting out of the Army and played until the ripe age of 88. Most would describe Bill as smart, strong-willed, and very independent. The song " I Did It My Way" probably describes him the best. He loved spending time with people, whether it be family gatherings, parties, or ball games. His attitude was always, "The more the merrier".
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Barbara Sallee Katzman, who passed away September 22, 2022, after 67 years of marriage; granddaughter, Amanda Leigh Katzman; 7 sisters; and 2 brothers.
Left to cherish Bill’s memory are his 3 sons, Bill (Kim dec), Don (Joanne dec.), and Michael (Angie) Katzman; grandchildren, Kristy Eaton (Jason), Amy Katzman, Anne Katzman, Maria Wade (Ethan) and Grace Katzman; 5 great grandchildren, Greenlee, Maris, Esmae Eaton, Aly Ricks, Ellie Jo and Sophia Wade; and a host of extended family members, neighbors, and friends.
Visitation for Bill will be Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 12pm to 3pm at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home – Okolona Chapel with his Funeral Service following at 3pm in the chapel. Burial in Resthaven Memorial Gardens will be private.
