He was retired from the United States Navy after 26 years of service and retired from the Jefferson County Board of education after 24 years of service.
He is survived by his daughter, Virginia Bolton-Bright; two grandchildren, Raymond and Randall Bolton; and eight great-grandchildren.
A Military Service to celebrate William's life will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery with interment to follow. Visitation will be held noon-2 p.m. Tuesday at the Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor Blvd.
